The “Building a Healthier San Gabriel River
Watershed” conference will bring together
leaders from various fields to consider and
discuss how their work informs our
understanding of watershed health and how
their ongoing projects improve watershed
health. Mixing experts of different
backgrounds will highlight the common
threads in our work and strengthen collab-
oration among organizations, agencies
and individuals in the San Gabriel River
Watershed.

Past conferences focusing on improving the
health of the San Gabriel River set the stage
for improvement throughout the watershed.
In 1999, the “Re-Envisioning the San Gabriel
River” conference brought together visionary
stakeholders to explore transforming the
river into a centerpiece for a more livable San
Gabriel Valley community by improving its
appearance, function and recreation potential.
That successful conference was followed in
2002 by “Re-Envisioning the San Gabriel
River Conference II,” which highlighted the
activities in progress along the river from the
mountains to the harbor.

The "Building a Healthier San Gabriel River
Watershed” conference will build upon the
previous two by highlighting the work that is
being done across sectors in the watershed
aimed at improving community and
watershed health.
The conference will bring together researchers,
policy makers, decision makers and
interested stakeholders to rediscover the
common threads in the various efforts
underway in the San Gabriel River watershed.
Attendees will leave the conference with a
renewed sense of the interconnectedness of
watershed health, and perhaps new ideas for
collaborative work with other disciplines to
improve the health of our watershed.

The conference would be of interest to:
